That looks really sweet!! Brackets are required for the front, and you should go with the biggest speaker you can get in there. Im sure they can be made but also thinking someone may have found something off the shelf that would work. The frequency response of the 522s is already below my crossover frequency. They are very helpful and their tech support is awesome!!!!

I do plan on keeping the current stereo, just because its touchscreen but replacing all of the speakers. Did you have the 89 or newer b2600i with the mazda 2.6 or the older one with the Mitsubishi 2.6. Topped it off with a Kenwood Media Receiver. I just heard the Alpine SPV-65X-WRA yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at how well they sounded. Crutchfield has great tech support if you need it but if you don't, they are really (really!) Do you think it's worth swapping my current DB522's in the pods for the DB652's? As Crutchfield mentioned, I found the diameter of the magnet bigger than stock, but I was able to push it with a bit of effort to get the tabs flush with the dash. This ONE package contains a pair of left and right speakers, and can be used for either the front, or rear. This is almost as hard as picking out new wheels, as there are just too many choices. I also do not have the infinity sound system but I am running an aftermarket deck. Direct replacement for soundbar and dash speakers in a 2014 Jeep Jk, sound great, you'll notice a difference the minute you turn your radio on. 
Just as an FYI - here is the adapter I used in the front. I will let everyone know what I decide to do. Looking forward to hearing your review. I didn't notice any difference myself. With 2002 and older 6.5" speakers drop right in with no modifications needed. Part of the problem with the sound quality and volume is the lossy input formats that we are using (Sirius, FM, MP3, etc..) . From one of the posts above, looks like "3 tab" speakers are what I need. If the newer rounded plastics you have a lot more options including some cool 'Restyle' options that don't cost $3K like the Alpine WRA. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. If you have a factory upgraded stereo, check your speaker ohms. stereo can go louder without distortion and the sound has some better lows in it. What have you done to your JK (2007-2017)? So much so, that I actually biased the fader control to the rear by another notch.
