Saw one on there while casually browsing eBay listings. In the early 1990s, Seiko turned its attention to creating a far more focused set of regatta timers. The Seiko Kid: London - Paris - New York - Lancashire, Sorry, I know about the watch in general - guess I should have been more specific.
The watch here is a comfortable 35mm case size with a nice blue perlon strap. When I get time i'll take some shots of the 'gang' together there are some quite rare ones I think. 
Roy Scheider can be seen wearing one in the epic movie "2010: The Year We Make Contact" and the character of astronaut Molly Cobb (played by Sonya Walger) in the truly brilliant alt-history TV show "For All Mankind" can also be seen wearing one. Isn't that the one astronauts wore in Skylab? Can you explain (or show a video) on how the markers, hands and buttons work for a 5 min countdown? 
More than I had originally found. . 
By using the left crown to rotate to desired countdown selection and once it turns to 5min, engage bottom chronograph button and the watch will begin the 5 min count down. The most famous NASA-related watch is the Omega Speedmaster Professional but the A827-6010 was a very popular watch worn by the astronauts during training in the 80s. 
It also has a repeat function when the set time is up, the timer begins to count down again. Holy Cow!!! Ill try to get a video later this afternoon!

Based upon those prices, Kelly, and what I have seen in trading forums, the watch seems desirable. It appears as an analog watch but feels digital and is a quartz movement.

I'm thinking of the wrong version; it was the A829-6019 hat astronauts wore in the Space Shuttle. The dial is a fun play of colors and has a striking white background with colorful 5,10,15 minute time markers. If anyone is to answer your question about early Seiko LCDs, SeikoKid would be the man. Amazing that they can make a timer for such a specialized occasion but have yet to market a more general countdown timer watch for everyday use.

I think I paid a little more than market value, but it was worth it. I love the A828 design but dont like the rubbish finish as it just doesnt hold up to any wear.

RARE 1983 May Men's 40mm Seiko Yacht Timer 7A28-7090 Bullhead Watch Rubber Strap. there are also images of other styles with this movement but could not find the A827. I was luck enough to fun a new bezel and the shrouds were already in good condition. () : 107-87-03406 : 2015--0315. It remains one of the missing functions that would actually be quite handy..
