A footswitch enables you to turn a certain effect on or off on an amp, allow you to scroll through memory banks on a multi-effects pedal, or do any number of things that would otherwise be controlled by turning knobs.

Most Roland guitar amplifiers and many Boss effect pedals require a footswitch in order to be used to their full potential. How many consumers need a foot switch that can behave like four different types of switch to use with several different Boss/Roland products? What I made is a momentary foot switch. Works great for that. I used this on my RC-300 and it added a lot more functions. The Simple Switch vertical micro tap tempo N.C. is a space saving solution that allows you to fit it in much smaller places than conventional micro tap tempos allow. I was able to find DPDT latching footswitches. If you are into this kind of thing you will get your money's worth over time. Same here. Better yet, search your favorite online marketplace for "dual latching footswitch," because you can buy a generic one that's just as small as this build for *less* than you'll pay for these parts.Second, let's be real: the FS-6 is way more than 95% of everyone who buys it needs.

I have no problem with not having AC power as I have enough to plug in as it is. Match the drill bit size up to the outer edge of the threads on the switch where the mounting nut and washer are. I'd guess 85% of FS-6 owners couldn't even explain what all those mode switches do, even though they paid 2-3 times the price of a simpler device that just has the two foot switches they need for their specific amp or effects unit. Your comments are right on, and I totally set the switches to work for my Loop Station, and have never touched them again. 1 1/4 in. Or to be more accurate, latching switches don't need them, so long as they are installed correctly. You can also use this footswitch for a device that only has one lead.

The RC1 loop station is a great little looper. Note: If the switches you are using need to be mounted from the top (the nut and washer attach on the bottom), make sure to install them in the box before doing your soldering. stereo jack, also called TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) in order to accommodate 2 switches. I would have given it a 5 but I had a hard time trying to get an external foot switch to work with this pedal. Guitar amps also don't need the polarity switches in this build. The documentation was so poor as it does not use correct electrical verbiage for switches words like "Normally Open" NO or "Normally Closed" NC switch are a foreign concept to Boss.
