Make sure the actual wire is good for whatever load you have. it won't compete with a multiple HP unit, but considering i only paid ~$100, I've more than got my money out of it.

Ive had really positive feedback on the plans so far.

This was an absolutely huge project for me (both physically and financially), and I bought all of the pieces over a long period of time. I made this Thein/HF combo almost 8 years ago, and it works really well at catching everything but the finest particles. The PDF plans are digital download straight from the purchase. The whole thing is on wheels, and has the same footprint as a Harbor Freight Dust Collection system (22 x 33.). I modified mine to a cyclone using a dust deputy.
I just got mine in today, and I haven't done the swap myself yet, so YMMV, but for $50, I was willing to take a flyer on it.

I had to download the manual for the dust collector to get the part number which is 3403-22, this is also where I found the specs for it to see it was the same as the Rikon impeller. Yours looks about right to me. I did a google search and didnt find one from Wen but did from Ricon. Violations to rule 1 including crude jokes, innuendo, sexist remarks, politics, or hate speech may result in an immediate ban. However, I see 2hp motors/dust collectors come up on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace pretty frequently for about $50 in my area.

Can confirm this part (3403-022) works great on my HF 2HP dust collector (97869 I think?).
This system is entirely bagless, and has been extremely efficient so far. I'd rather spring for a larger DC and run it on 220v. Running amps are about 12, I think, but haven't checked in a while. I drill holes in my zero clearance inserts which seems to help with saw dust accumulation at the table saw.

To use a different tool, I just unplug the electrical and dust collection, wheel it away, wheel the new tool in place, and hook it up. Just an FYI for anyone wanting to upgrade their Harbor Freight dust collector fan. I just need to get some circular too-its.

On the exhaust side is a Wynn Environmental 13F230NANO that is connected to a bucket. I think my HF unit is right at the limit of running on the 15a circuit because of the inrush of current.

Shipping a filter from them to Portland, OR was expensive for me. If you were to purchase everything brand new, I think the build would run approximately $800. I only needed 3 drops, to handle the larger tools, I use a ducted central vac for all of my other dc needs. By I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. The motor is a Harbor Freight motor that I purchased new, and then sold the remaining bits on Craigslist to help recoup some of the money. The reason I didnt rotate the motor more is because I wanted to use the stock motor mounts to bolt into the side of cart instead of trying to design something else to hold that motor in place. After months of researching, I decided to build my own dust collection system. Id love to add the Rikon impeller in the future, but I have concerns about it pulling too much power with my current electrical situation. Pulling 18.7 amps briefly at startup will probably not cause a 15 amp breaker to trip, there is a load / time curve they are designed to follow. I opted for a 20 gallon drum as it feels very space efficient, and I know it wont be overly difficult to move when its full. I do think this filter is going to last ages though, because it has over 200 square feet of filter and when paired with the Super Dust Deputy, barely anything goes through it anyway. At the shortest drop the loss is 12%, next is 20% and the longest % is 25%. My shop is 30 x 17 and for my set up the HF is probably all I will need. 10X FLA is a pretty common starting current. How does your system handle your tools? Thanks for that info Bob. However, if the area is reduced, such as when using a zero clearance insert in the tablesaw, or stepping down to a 2" port for my spindle sander, the air flow drops drastically. It is the Grizzly G0690 and for some reason the designers decided that putting the exhaust port 2 1/4" inch above the floor pan was a good idea.
Did you have to call Wen directly? Looks nice the only thing I question is the angle of the dangle of the exhaust hose going into the filter.
With that said, I d love to see any type of improvements/modifications on this design if anyone decides to go ahead and build one like it.
