If the material is unfinished, skip this step. Is there a trick to removing it? Do you rub the mod podge over the edges of the stencil onto the wood or just up to the edge of the stencil? Read my full disclosurehere. I typically use acrylic craft paint and do 2-3 of lights coats of paint. That is why I mentioned in my post to only use a light spray, you only need enough to make it slightly tacky you don't need to glue it down with hairspray. Light spray, let it sit for a couple of seconds to get a bit tacky and then go on to the usual steps. I am so glad I found this hack. Aleenes is not waterproof and not ideal for outdoor use. I still use the Vinyl auto setting and Ive been adjusting it so its not quite as deep of a blade but havent found the magic numbers yet!

Ive been having a heck of a time lately with mine.it randomly doesnt cut certain letters, others are fine. Based on some other comments on this post, I dont think this method works great for the thick mylar stencils. Most glue droplets are not absorbed into the materials, preventing warping, staining, and yellowing. I always use adhesive shelf liner from the Dollar Treeto create my stencils for wood. Somethings gotta change though this just aint working.

Searched for a way to alleviate so much time n I believe this may work, although Im a little questionable as to the vinyl stencil. April, I havent tried this on glass, but I have tried it on metal and it did not work. I do always use matte finish mod podge so its not glossy shine! Lol. Please let me know how it goes!
